From now on, each daily edition will come with a short and sweet summary of the day’s most important stories. Here’s a bit about me: I’ve been a journalist for more than two decades, covering everything from the World Economic Forum in Davos to the cleanup effort around the melted down Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant while at The Wall Street Journal and CNET. I’ve spent a majority of my career as a technology journalist, but have always been intrigued by the entertainment world. At The Wrap, I’ll be pushing stories that cover the intersection of the two, always with a lens on what this means for the business of Hollywood. But on to today’s news. We may finally see some movement in the merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media thanks to the prospect of a settlement with President Donald Trump over his $20 billion CBS lawsuit. This comes ahead of Paramount's shareholder meeting on Wednesday, and you can expect to read more about this from us tomorrow. Roger Cheng ![]() Paramount Global's merger with Skydance Media has been left in limbo thanks to President Donald Trump's $20 billion lawsuit over CBS and its "60 Minutes" news program's handling of an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris. But it looks like the media giant, which has been eager to get this deal done, may finally see some clarity as the two sides are now in talks on a settlement and asked for a stay until Thursday, a day after the company's shareholder meeting. Paramount leaders and controlling shareholder Sheri Redstone are likely cheering on the development, but it does fly in the face of lawmakers and CBS employees and, in particular, its journalists, who have pushed to fight the suit and argue the case had no merit in the first place.
