Arlington County Sheriff’s Office Releases 2024 Annual Report
ARLINGTON, Va. – Monday, June 30, The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is proud to announce the release of its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of innovation, dedication, and deepened community partnerships. The report showcases key accomplishments aligned with the agency’s core priorities: operating a safe and rehabilitative jail, supporting the wellness and development of staff, and building meaningful connections with the Arlington community.
“As your Sheriff, I’m proud of the strides our team has made this past year to enhance safety, foster rehabilitation, and strengthen trust with those we serve,” said Sheriff Jose Quiroz. “From expanding our Medication Assisted Treatment program to launching new community engagement initiatives, this report reflects the incredible work being done every day by our deputies and staff.”
2024 Highlights and Initiatives
The 2024 Annual Report offers a comprehensive overview of each division’s contributions to the agency’s mission. Key highlights include:

Corrections and Rehabilitation: The ACSO expanded its Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program by introducing Sublocade, a monthly treatment option for individuals battling opioid addiction. The Community Readiness Unit (CRU) continued its impactful work in reducing recidivism, and the Addiction Corrections Treatment (ACT) program graduated 16 inmates in 2024.

Technology and Innovation: ACSO became the first sheriff’s office in the region to pilot 4Sight Labs' biometric monitoring devices, leading to 11 life-saving interventions for medically vulnerable individuals in custody.

Community Engagement: The Sheriff’s Office participated in more than 30 community events, hosted its inaugural volunteer appreciation luncheon, and launched a quarterly community newsletter. Events included National Night Out, Trunk-or-Treats, and youth outreach efforts such as story time at local libraries and youth soccer tournaments.

Staff Development and Wellness: In 2024, ACSO welcomed 21 new deputy sheriffs, implemented its first internal mentorship program, and provided over 30,000 hours of training. Two new K9s - Hope, a wellness dog, and Weaver, an explosives detection dog - joined the agency. K9 Logan made history as Virginia’s first dual-certified electronics and narcotics detection canine.

Judicial and Civil Services: The Judicial Services Division screened over 251,000 individuals entering the courthouse, handled more than 29,000 civil process attempts, and executed over 1,100 evictions while ensuring the safe transportation of over 2,000 individuals.

Recognitions and Awards: Several ACSO staff members were honored with awards from the Chamber of Commerce, Crime Solvers, VFW, and Optimist Club. The Civil Process Division earned the County Manager’s Excellence Award for outstanding service.
The report also includes statistics on jail population, inmate programming, mental health services, and pretrial supervision. In 2024, ACSO maintained a daily average inmate population of 364 and saw an 87% success rate among individuals placed on pretrial supervision.
