Join us for the Annual Build-Your-Own Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, August 30 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Green Acres Center (4401 Sideburn Road). In just two hours, you'll assemble your own fully functional rain barrel to take home and learn tips for care and maintenance — no experience necessary!
Registration is required and costs $55 per barrel, which includes all materials, tools, and guidance needed to build your rain barrel. Space is limited, so don’t delay!

Rain barrels are a simple and effective way to:
- Conserve water for use on lawns, gardens, or potted plants
- Reduce your water bill
- Minimize stormwater runoff, which helps prevent erosion and water pollution
- Potentially for City residents to earn stormwater utility credits. Visit the Stormwater Utility webpage to learn more.
This workshop is offered in partnership with the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District (NVSWCD), an organization dedicated to promoting clean water and sustainable land use through community-based programs and education. To learn more about the Conservation District and the benefits of rainwater harvesting, visit NVSWCD’s website.
