Kinder Camp - August 7
We are excited for our 2025 Kinder Camp! This is a great opportunity for our Kinder Cubbies to get to know Cub Run, start learning our routines, and to ride a school bus! Spending time with your student before school starts will also help inform our Kindergarten class placement process for the 2025-26 school year.
If you are interested in having your child attend Kinder Camp 2025, please click here to register for Kinder Camp by July 26, 2025. All necessary school registration paperwork must be completed before registering for the camp. To register your child for Kindergarten, please contact our registrar, Ms. Namrata Saxena, at nsaxena@fcps.edu or (703) 633-7500.

Kiss & Ride Vehicle Tag
If you have a child attending Cub Run next year who was in Kiss & Ride this year, please keep your tag in a safe place for the summer. Your family will continue to have the same number and this will avoid re-printing the tags in the fall.
Order School Supplies for 2025-26
Campus Survival Kits will provide additional headphones that will be kept in the office. Any student who orders a kit and their headphones break will be able to come to the office to trade for a new one. We will then send the broken headphone to Campus Survival so they can troubleshoot the issue. This new process will allow students to easily replace their headphones and give Campus Survival the opportunity to investigate issues and correct them quickly.

Reminders
Summer Learning Resources
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is excited to support student learning over the summer. This Summer Learning Resources Webpage includes optional digital activities in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies for students in Grades K-6.
The activities are grouped by grade level and match what students have learned in school this year. Families can use them anytime to review, practice, or explore new ideas at home. Resources utilize digital tools that students may have used throughout the year such as Science A-Z, Pebble Go, Gizmos, Newsela, MyOn, Britannica Elementary, ST Math, and Benchmark Advance.
Language Arts Summer Learning: Magazines, Weekly Plans, Activities, and More
We sent students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You also received a letter with weekly learning plans and activities.
Find more ways to support your child's literacy skills on FCPS’ Summer Learning Resources webpage. All of these activities are optional, but we encourage families to help their students practice reading and writing during summer break, so that they can start strong next school year.
Summer Resources Help Students Stay Curious, Healthy, and Busy
FCPS’ Summer Resource Guide has activities and tips on a variety of subjects and interests from camps to health and safety resources. Be sure to check back over the summer, as more resources may be added.
Summer Meals for Students
FCPS’ Summer Meal Service Program provides breakfast and lunch free of charge to all children aged 18 and younger. Check FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services webpage and the USDA Meals Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder in mid-June for specific dates, times, and locations.
Please note that no meals will be served on the June 19 and July 4 holidays. If you have any questions regarding the Summer 2025 meal service, please contact us at SummerMeals@fcps.edu or at 703-813-4800.

Kindergarten Registeration: It's as Easy as 1-2-3...
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, between January and April. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us prepare and ensure we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
Families should prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms on the FCPS kindergarten registration webpage. FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, visit the kindergarten registration webpage.
A strong start is Goal 1 of the 2023-30 Strategic Plan.
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation and any other introductory events each school may host. Read more about the registration process.
