Arlington Recognized by USGBC

The U.S. Green Building Council covered the stories of six U.S. cities and counties that reached LEED for Cities Platinum certification under LEED v4.1 for Existing Cities. Arlington was highlighted for receiving certification in 2017 and pursuing recertification in 2023, earning double Platinum status. Read the full article.

ICLEI Presentation

AIRE is a member of Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), a global network of more than 2500 local and regional governments across 125+ countries committed to sustainable urban development. Members and experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability. AIRE recently presented to ICLEI members on Arlington County establishing an advisory committee and fostering interdepartmental collaboration with its Climate Change, Energy and Environment (C2E2) Commission. E-Bike Voucher Program

Arlington County is offering residents point-of-sale vouchers toward the purchase of an electric bike (e-bike) from a participating bike shop. This program supports the County’s Community Energy Plan (CEP) by incentivizing residents to adopt lower-emissions transportation options and reduce travel via single-occupancy vehicles. The County plans to distribute approximately 250 vouchers to Arlington residents, ranging in value from $600-$1,650. Arlington residents can apply for an e-bike voucher during a 2-week period in late Summer 2025. Learn more and receive updates when the application is available.
