When Is a Hunter Biden Movie Not a Hunter Biden Movie? |
The Prince, a new film directed by Cameron Van Hoy and starring Scott Haze, centers on a flailing addict named Parker—the black sheep of a powerful American dynasty who’s grown up in his beloved older brother’s shadow. You don’t need to be a conspiracy theorist to see the echoes between the character and Hunter Biden—the alleged model for David Mamet’s screenplay of the film. Yet Van Hoy and Haze insist to David Canfield that we shouldn’t think of The Prince as a Hunter Biden movie. “If you watch the movie, it could be anybody,” says Haze. “My politics is very much—how do I say this? I just really don’t like hate. If you don’t like gay people, I don’t want to talk to you. I hate that stuff. For me, am I concerned?” He shakes his head. “I think that people are going to do what they’re going to do.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Richard Lawson gives it up for James Gunn’s Superman; Alessandra De Tommasi introduces us to the film’s star, David Corenswet; Michael C. Hall talks about bringing Dexter Morgan back to life for a new series; and just for fun, here’s a piece from 2018 in which Sonia Saraiya explains why the late Margot Kidder was the definitive Lois Lane. |
