Nearly 300 million people experienced crisis levels of hunger last year
Globally, 150 million children suffer from stunted growth and development due to chronic lack of adequate food and essential nutrients
Currently, more than 10 million children suffer from wasting, the most severe and life-threatening form of malnutrition
Nearly half of all child deaths globally are attributable to malnutrition
At Food for the Hungry, we are moved by this injustice and motivated to end these preventable child deaths. For over 50 years, we’ve been privileged to walk alongside the most vulnerable, delivering vital relief and development programs that restore health, hope and dignity to individuals in some of the world’s poorest places. Inspired by our Christian faith and encouraged by Micah 6:8 “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God,” we deliver catalytic solutions that build resilience so that children, families and communities can flourish.
Food for the Hungry works in places like Haiti, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Democratic Republic of Congo, partnering with families, faith leaders and churches to create transformational change in even the most challenging contexts. Last year we delivered improved nutrition to over half a million vulnerable children and mothers, reducing stunting due to chronic malnutrition in over 58,000 babies.
