Apparently, new information into the investigation of the Kirk murder last week has just emerged, according to the NY Times. Govenor Spencer Cox of Utah reported that the suspect had been “radicalized” after he left college (he only studied for one semester), and according to Cox, was in a romantic relationship with someone who was transitioning from male to female. This person was his roomate, and ther is no evidence that trans issues are a part of motive. The roomate is apparently co-operating with authorities. “There clearly was a leftist ideology with this — with this assassin,” the governor said, citing the suspect’s family and romantic partner as sources of that information. This is just the kind of news the radical right wants to hear, and if true, they will have more ammunition to blame Democrats for Kirk’s death; although they would do that anyway, regardless. We will perhaps know more on Tuesday when the suspect will be charged. He is not cooperating with Utah authorities thus far. Among other things, Kirk was ani-transgender, and extremely anti-independent women. The more I see and hear about his views on women in particular, the angrier I get. I also have difficulty with mainstream media highlighting the “dialogue” format Kirk used when visiting college campuses. It was his way of manipulating young minds and getting video clips to use online to further indoctrinate youth. I do not believe there was anything democratic about what he was doing—and he himself is quoted as saying he “hates empathy.” I have viewed some of these, and they are difficult to watch. He was a radical Christian right white male with arrogant and unyielding views, and his "dialogues” with college kids were a constuct to make them look stupid, and Kirk dominant. He was only after changing minds to his way of thinking, and thus, power. How it is affecting the right is extremely important. That the alleged shooter might have left-leaning views is newsworthy— it changes the dynamic. If true. I will wait to hear more because I do not trust the right to provide facts, when they repeatedly demostrate that they weaponize misinformation. Here is a silly cartoon for you to end your Sunday. I hadn’t planned on writing about politics today, but I wanted to share the breaking news. Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow! You're currently a free subscriber to Seeing Things.
