Looking at attack volumes is useful to spot which industries or countries are most targeted. But at Hackmanac we go further: our proprietary ESIX© (Estimated Severity Index) measures the financial, operational, and reputational impact of each incident — uncovering the entities that are truly the most impacted.
This dual perspective often reveals a deeper and more accurate picture of the cyber threat landscape than volume metrics alone.
In August 2025, we analysed 1,263 successful cyber attacks (a 6% decrease from July). The global average ESIX© score remained basically stable at 4.36 (-1%), within the High severity range.
