The Red Sox have won 21 of the 30 games Garrett Crochet has started, the latest a much-needed 6-4 victory against the Yankees on Sunday night at Fenway Park.
The lefthander was not necessarily at his best, allowing three runs on five hits after being staked to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. But he struck out 12 and gave the Sox what they needed to stop a three-game losing streak and avoid a series sweep.
Style points and statistics don’t matter against the Yankees. Just find a way to beat them and Crochet did that.
