Haycock Elementary Family Liaison Newsletter
2nd Edition, September 2025

From Your Family Liaison: Kathryn Dunbar

As a Coast Guard veteran, I am especially excited to welcome our new and returning military families back to school! **Blue Star Welcome Week** is Sept 29 - Oct 3. We will be celebrating our active duty and veteran families all week!

Please send photos of military family members with their Haycock student to me for a school slide show at  kdunbar@fcps.edu.

UPDATE: Volunteering At Haycock!

FCPS' new volunteer management system is experiencing some glitches, but have no fear! If you are registered with the system, but not approved, you will still be allowed to volunteer while the Samaritan system is being perfected!  All FCPS volunteers MUST register at:  Be a Cougar Volunteer!

REMEMBER:  if you want to CHAPERONE one of Haycock's many field trips at any point during this school year, you should register as soon as possible at the above link. You will be required to undergo a background check and fingerprinting. (If you have been recently fingerprinted, then that will be verified and you will not need to have this done again). This is for the safety of our students. Any information provided in support of volunteering will not be shared outside of Fairfax County Public Schools.

You can always reach out to me as well, and I will guide you through the approval process at  kdunbar@fcps.edu
