Tech Across the Globe

Nvidia buys (some) Intel: The $4 trillion chipmaker has agreed to buy a $5 billion stake of Intel and partner up to co-develop chips for PCs and data centers. The surprise move will help the ailing industry pioneer.

New Ray-Bans: Mark Zuckerberg used the annual Meta Connect conference to debut new additions to the company’s lineup of smart glasses, including a $799 Ray-Ban model that includes a built-in display.

Lyft and Waymo team up: Lyft and Waymo are partnering for the first time, with plans to offer robotaxi service in Nashville next year. Lyft’s stock jumped on the news; rival Uber, which also has a Waymo partnership, fell.

iPhone’s China slump: Sales in China of Apple’s flagship smartphone fell 6% from the year-earlier period in the weeks before the introduction of the iPhone 17, a deeper decline than is typical before the new models are unveiled.
