![]() Greetings!Disney was trying to avoid one headache by yanking "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off the air on Wednesday after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brandon Carr threatened the media giant over the late night host's comments about the Charlie Kirk shooter. But now it's facing another. The suspension, widely seen as the company once again capitulating to President Trump and his administration, has elicited a vocal wave of criticism: “After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like,” President Barack Obama shared on X. "It’s ridiculous. And you can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian criminal administration in the Oval Office," David Letterman said at the Atlantic Festival. "That’s just not how this works.” “I was shocked, saddened and infuriated by yesterday’s suspension and look forward to it being lifted soon,” Damon Lindelof wrote in an Instagram statement. “If it isn’t, I can’t in good conscience work for the company that imposed it.” As Brian Lowry and Lucas Manfredi note, Trump appears to be on a tear against free speech, meaning criticism. Disney's suspension of Kimmel appears to have emboldened Trump who on Thursday suggested that networks that covered him "negatively" could lose their licenses. Carr went on the "The Scott Jennings Radio Show" on Thursday and said he might look into ABC talk show "The View" next. Roger
