Dear fan,
As a college football fan, you know the important role that the AP Top 25 poll plays each season amid the talk of which teams are the best and should be considered for the playoff.
One of the primary ways the AP poll is different than the coaches' poll and CFP rankings is that it is chosen by a select panel of sports journalists.
Each week, the AP Top 25 is decided by unbiased experts from all parts of the country who attend and watch multiple games. Voters are instructed to be objective and ensure their ballots reflect their honest assessment of the best teams in the nation.
This is what they do as college football reporters and broadcasters, and each member of the panel is carefully selected by AP’s editors. We take objectivity seriously: 20 years ago, we insisted that the AP poll be dropped from the formula used to set the Bowl Championship Series.
If you value the poll and the insights that AP provides into the world of college football each season, consider supporting AP through a donation.
As you know, AP is a not-for-profit newsroom, so your support helps ensure we can continue providing the poll, and the reporting that makes it possible, every season.
