Hey dupa

If you’ve ever worried about being boring, I get it.

A lot of people think the fix is to come up with more interesting things to say:

Tell better stories, remember clever details, or always have something funny on hand.

But it’s actually the opposite.

The most captivating people don’t have better material…

They just have a lower filter.

They say the things that most people stop themselves from saying.

I remember working with a client once who struggled with this exact thing.

She told me about a time she was chatting with her gym trainer and felt like she had nothing interesting to say.

We talked about how that feeling itself could be a great place to start a conversation.

What if she just said something like:

“I never know what to say in these kinds of small-talk moments… do you ever feel that way?”

She tried it the next week.

And instead of another awkward silence, it turned into an engaging, funny conversation about how trainers connect with all kinds of people every day.

The point is - you don’t need to be more interesting.

You just need to stop filtering out the thoughts that are already there.

Let yourself speak them, even if they feel small or silly.

Talk soon,
Charlie

P.S.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I was recently on the Women of Impact podcast talking about confidence.

We broke down everything from Taylor Swift’s transformation from shy to self-assured, to the subtle body-language cues that make people respect you instantly.

I loved doing this interview and I am curious if these “on the fly” breakdowns are something you’d like more of.
