Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen as the rare Category 5 storm now has sustained winds of 175 mph, making it the strongest storm on the planet this year.
Melissa’s outer bands are lashing Jamaica with wind and rain and mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for the island nation's vulnerable coastal areas. The storm has already killed three people in Haiti and one person in the Dominican Republic.
