Subsea Cable Cuts
Available Workaround: If you are experiencing ongoing issues, moving to an alternate Zscaler data center may help.
Status: Resolved
Event Type: Service Degradation

We are aware of the subsea cable cuts  in the Red Sea affecting internet connectivity across parts of Asia and the Middle East, with potential impacts on various services. Our teams are actively monitoring the situation, coordinating with partners, and will provide updates as new information becomes available. If you are experiencing difficulties reaching certain destinations, moving to an alternative data center may help mitigate the issue. For additional support or persistent issues, please contact your support team.

Update - Tue, 09 Sep 2025 13:43:37 UTC

Zscaler is aware of the ongoing impact and is actively collaborating with its partners to optimize the network path. Zscaler confirms that its services remain fully operational and that the impact is due to the subsea cable issue. Efforts to perform route optimization are ongoing. If customers continue to experience any issues, switching to an alternative data center may help mitigate the problem. For additional assistance, customers are encouraged to reach out to Zscaler Support.

Update on the Red Sea Cable Cut Situation

Zscaler services remain operational, though some users may experience performance issues when connecting from India or the Middle East to international content and SaaS applications. Our investigations indicate that the primary impact is on connectivity between the Middle East/India and Europe.

The subsea cable disruption is the result of physical damage to cables that we do not control, and it is affecting the majority of providers in the region. While this is an industry-wide issue, our teams are actively working across multiple avenues to mitigate impact:

  • Coordinating with global carriers to reroute and optimize paths.
  • Collaborating closely with impacted cloud providers to improve performance.
  • Continuously monitoring conditions and making real-time adjustments.

Repair operations on the damaged cables are currently being scheduled, though timelines remain tentative. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

If you are experiencing ongoing issues, moving to an alternate Zscaler data center may help. Please reach out to Zscaler Support for assistance.

Incremental Update on the Red Sea Cable Cut Situation

As part of our ongoing efforts to address the connectivity challenges caused by the subsea cable disruption, we can confirm that our global cloud partners have optimized their network paths toward Zscaler, which is helping to alleviate performance issues for some customers. While this optimization has led to better performance with certain impacted data centers, it is important to note that we cannot guarantee permanent resolution until the subsea fiber cut is fully repaired.

Additionally, we have received positive feedback from some customers who have moved to alternate Zscaler data centers. However, it is important to highlight that optimal performance can vary depending on the destination paths relative to each Zscaler data center. Customers are encouraged to test alternate data centers as needed and reach out to Zscaler Support for further assistance. We appreciate your patience as we continue working with carriers, cloud providers, and other partners to mitigate the situation. Repair timelines remain tentative, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update - Mon, 15 Sep 2025 20:13:10 UTC

We want to provide an update on the ongoing subsea cable disruptions in the Red Sea region. Zscaler, in close collaboration with our global partners, has successfully optimized multiple routes between Europe, India, and the Middle East. These optimizations have remained stable and continue to deliver improved performance. In addition, the recent restoration of the unrelated MENA cable system has added capacity back into the region, helping ease some of the constraints caused by the Red Sea cable cuts.

While these efforts have delivered meaningful stabilization, most Red Sea cable repairs are still pending and no confirmed completion dates have been announced. Once repairs are finalized, we expect further improvements in resilience and available capacity for traffic paths across the region.

Zscaler teams will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update - Wed, 17 Sep 2025 07:24:32 UTC

Zscaler continues to monitor the optimized routes, which remain stable. There is currently no confirmed completion date for further repairs. Zscaler continues to collaborate with its global cloud and carrier partners. The Zscaler teams will continue to monitor closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update - Wed, 05 Nov 2025 21:25:15 UTC

Zscaler collaborated with global cloud and carrier partners. The Red Sea cable issue has been mitigated and impact is no longer observed. Residual cable repairs remain with the external fiber owners. Telemetry is stable and this incident is now resolved.
