Practice Schedule for the Week
Coaches have the right to adjust the schedule as they see fit, so make sure you are getting whatever communication comes from your program. Many of our programs have varying time schedules for practice as all our programs work together to maximize practice space and utilize our facilities equally.
Booster Club Update
Our next Booster Club meeting is Tuesday evening at 6pm in the College and Career Center at Hayfield. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Our Booster Club Board is small but mighty! We can use all the help, so if you are interested in supporting our student athletes and the Boosters efforts, let us know and we can get you connected. There are plenty of opportunities to help and even if you think your skillset is not useful, we can find a way to make it useful!
The Booster Club handles all things concessions which is the single largest source of income for our athletics budget. FCPS does not supply a yearly budget, so outside of buses and officials, we have to fundraise for everything else. The Boosters and their efforts, allow us the ability to purchase all the things that our student athletes need and want. Some of their recent purchases include the windscreens around our facilities, the baseball turtle and supporting our youth clinics.

Athletes of the Week
We were fortunate to have an incredible number of our student athletes represent Hayfield and Hawk Pride on their respective All National District teams. See them all here - Hawks on the All National District Teams!
Kudos to all of our amazing student athletes that competed this Fall and to all our amazing student athletes that spent the past week trying out for Winter teams! We look forward to seeing you all compete on the mats, in the pools, on the track and on the courts!
Notes From Our Programs
Stay tuned for Amazon wish lists for all our programs in the near future. We have requests from the community to provide ways that our programs can be supported in small, subtle ways. All programs that would like to be involved and included will be tasked with providing a link to their wish list to provide to the community.
Our football team finished second in the district!
Our cheer team finished third in the district and fifth in the Region.
Our field hockey team finished second in the district.
Boys volleyball finished second in the district and girls volleyball finished fifth in the district.
Our golf team finished undefeated in the regular season and finished third in the district tournament.
Our girls flag football won their pod and lost in the FCPS semifinals to the eventual champion in a tight game.
Our boys cross country team finished 3rd in the district and the girls team finished 5th.
Overall, it was a successful Fall season. Winter is shaping up to be even better!
Coach Drickey’s Thoughts and Ramblings
I urge you to take advantage of our Booster Club passes and gain entrance to all home regular season contests for the price of your membership. With that in mind, the expectation is that fans are coming to support and cheer for our team and our students, while making sure that we don’t make negative comments to officials or our opponents.
We are excited for our student athletes to demonstrate their success on the field and excel in the classroom, as we chase district, region, and state championships. Our goal is to make Hayfield THE school in Northern Virginia, Virginia proper and the entire country.
Fall pictures have been released to us and are ready for purchase. If you have any questions, please contact sports@vosphoto.com and they will be happy to answer your questions.
As we head towards winter sports, I will leave you with this thought from Billie Jean King - the tennis great - “champions keep playing until they get it right!” I couldn’t have said it better. I played for an amazing coach once that talked about practice does not make perfect - instead he told us that practice makes permanent. This aligns with Ms. King’s thoughts that you just have to keep working until you get it right. Keep working hard and doing things the right way!
We look forward to our athletes, coaches and supporters winning on the field, courts, mats, track and in the pools, and in the classroom with class and HAWK PRIDE!
