Dear Haycock Families,

We are looking forward to a full week of school!

It was wonderful to welcome parents this past Friday for the second grade assembly honoring Veteran's Day, the veterans in our community, and the veterans on our staff.  Kudos to our second grade team and our music teachers for preparing our students for their great performance.

This Friday, November 21, we will hold another Cougar Connections and Conversations Parent Coffee at 9:30 a.m. in the library.  Our student support team will share information and answer questions about navigating social friendships and peer dynamics for elementary students . We hope you'll be able to join us.

Tonight is the November PTA meeting.  Join us virtually at 7:00 p.m. to hear what's going on and put your voice in the room. Here is the link to join the meeting.

Many thanks to Mr. Baker, Ms. Sklar, and the students and parents who showed up on Sunday to help prepare the garden being created in the chess courtyard to host the three sisters plants (corn, beans, and squash) which the 4th graders learn about in Social Studies.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP   krstyles@fcps.edu

Native American Month

November is Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

For more information on FCPS Heritage Month Celebrations, see this site.
