Important updates to the N2/N3 IVA Inspection Manual

From 28 November 2025 there will be changes in the N2/N3 IVA Inspection Manual.

The key updates being made, include:

  • Foreword: Inclusion of 'Steer-by-wire' systems & update to 'Run lock' requirements
  • Noise: Clarification of requirements for modified exhaust systems
  • Rear Protective Devices (Under-run): Updated requirements for Concrete / Volumetric Mixers & pumping vehicles
  • Lateral Protection: Clarification of requirements for devices fitted to exempted vehicles; addition of Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) to the section
  • Couplings: For 50mm ball couplings: addition of requirement for documentary evidence and applicable train weight
