LEA unveils new multimedia initiative 

A new ten-episode video and podcast series available in English and Spanish will launch in fall 2026 through OCBC’s Leading Educational Attainment (LEA) for Families Initiative, in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education and sponsored by Chevron.


The series supports OCBC’s ongoing work to strengthen workforce readiness, family engagement and educational pathways that build a resilient regional economy.

Exploring Orange County’s economy

Vanguard University students gained a firsthand view of the future of Orange County’s economy as OCBC President and CEO Jeff Ball spoke with Business majors about the region’s accelerating economic opportunities.


Ball gave an overview of Orange County’s thriving industry sectors, including MedTech and Aerospace. He also discussed how OCBC is leading regional efforts to grow the economy through engagement and advocacy, ensuring that students like those at Vanguard have opportunities to work and live in Orange County.


Conversations like this help bridge classroom learning with workforce realities and highlight the skills local employers need.

Connecting with the University of Hawaii on business, education collaboration

While in Hawaii last week for the Community College Accreditation Commission (CCAC), CEO Jeff Ball met with Wendy Hensel, the newly appointed President of the University of Hawaii System, to discuss business engagement in curriculum development and advocacy. 


On Oahu, Ball also toured Leeward Community College’s Product Development Center, an innovative hub that helps small businesses move product ideas from concept to manufacturing. He plans to share insights from the visit with OCBC’s educational partners. 


Through his role on the CCAC, Ball helps position OCBC to strengthen Orange County’s future workforce.

Advancing economic leadership in Orange County

OCBC’s Business Initiatives Manager, Maria Linares, has completed the Introduction to Economic Development Certificate Program through the California Academy for Economic Development (CALED), gaining advanced skills to support community and business growth. 


The program, offered in partnership with California State University Fresno and the University Business Center, equips participants with practical tools to strengthen local economies.

International credit union leaders visit SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union 

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union (FCU) recently hosted credit union leaders from across Africa as part of a multi-day Learn & Share Visit focused on collaboration, community impact and cultural exchange. 


The delegation met with SchoolsFirst FCU leaders to exchange insights on unique financial models, implications of cybersecurity and global best practices that support the worldwide credit union movement.
