Set to the theme of the circus, guests were welcomed with a champagne reception provided by drinks partner Perrier-Jouet, whilst towering stiltwalkers and a juggler paraded amongst the crowd to open the evening's entertainment.

London-based caterer Kerb provided a selection of the city's street food and drink. Design-led startup and drinks partner Windup served its non-alcoholic sparkling tea alternative.

Former Scissor Sisters frontwoman Ana Matronic introduced the evening's proceedings ahead of the highly anticipated winner announcements led by Dezeen's co-CEOs Benedict Hobson and Wai Shin Li, editorial director Max Fraser and awards and events director Claire Barrett.
