An animation from Trump’s first stint in the White House. Kristi Noem, secretary of homeland security, said in a statement on social media that she recommended that Trump enact “a full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies.” Noem called immigrants “foreign invaders.” Her words accompany a wider crackdown on legal pathways of immigration after the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, by a gunman identified by the authorities as an Afghan national last week. On Thanksgiving, Trump posted on social media: “HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for—You won’t be here for long!” Trump called Somali immigrants “garbage.” This man is off the rails, a horrible and hateful person. This is not who we are. In another ongoing story, Trump has thrown the military under the bus. White House press secretary Leavitt confirmed that a second strike of a boat supposedly carrying drugs (no proof) targeting the two survivors took place. But in the same breath, she threw Admiral Frank Bradley, commander of the Special Operations command, under the bus for the strike, insisting that he was “within his authority and the law.” I watched about 15 minutes of Trump’s cabinet meeting today, which was Trump just rambling stuff, “riddled with false claims.” Occasionally he would read from notes about things he was supposed to say about the economy or the WH renovations or whatever lies he wanted to put forth. He repeatedly blamed Biden for anything, and once again at length told the room how he “aced” the cogitive tests from months ago. After he was done singing his own praises and drawing chuckles at his “jokes” from the room (who are these people?), he handed off to his cabinet members, warning them that they didn’t have much time to give their reports. Later this afternoon, I saw footage of him dozing off at various times during the reports. Still no Epstein files. We had a bunch of snow today, maybe 4 inches, so I thought I’d end with a snow cartoon for you. Hope you have a good evening, I will see you tomorrow! Thanks so much for being here.
