The Government Accountability Office, an independent and nonpartisan investigative watchdog for Congress, said it has opened an investigation into Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte.

Pulte has accused Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook and several prominent Democrats, including New York Attorney General Letitia James, of mortgage fraud, and has referred them to the Justice Department.
