Today, I had to go into New York Presbyterian hospital for another xray and to meet with my doctor about my wrist break. This hospital’s main campus is around 165th St. In Manhattan. I’d never been there before; spending a few hours there was like being in a microcosm of New York City itself. So many different kinds of people! It was, for me, a feast for my eyes. It was chaotic, and while I hate waiting for doctor’s appointments, there was no shortage of interesting people to look at. There were two women sitting across from me as we waited for our turn under the X-ray. One had a bandage on her wrist, smaller than mine. I wondered which of her bones were broken…I noticed she was using her fingers. Something I can’t do yet. Also across from me was a woman who appeared to be of the Jewish faith, who sat there with a what looked like a old, well-used, small prayer book. She looked down on her book and was constantly mouthing words to herself as she repeatedly nodded her head. At one point she looked so upset as she was reciting something; she seemed close to tears. So many stories. Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow! Invite your friends and earn rewardsIf you enjoy Seeing Things, share it with your friends and earn rewards when they subscribe. |
