Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is highlighting data products the agency released during the month of December: Quarterly Medicare Drug Spending Data - New The new Medicare Quarterly Part B and Part D Drug Spending Datasets provide more timely information on use and spending for drugs prescribed to Medicare beneficiaries. The first release includes data for 2024 and Q1 of 2025. These preliminary datasets will be updated each quarter and may change with each new release due to claims lag. Once an entire year of data is available with a sufficient run-out period, that data will move out of the preliminary quarterly dataset and into the final, annual version of the Medicare Part B and Part D Drug Spending datasets. Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) - Annual UpdatesThe 2023 Socio-demographic and Health Characteristics of Medicare Beneficiaries by Metropolitan Residence Status PUF provides an overview of Medicare beneficiaries’ metropolitan residence status in 2023. The dataset aggregates information by demographics, presence of chronic conditions, functional limitations and mental health status. The 2023 Socio-demographic and Health Characteristics of Medicare Beneficiaries by Sex PUF provides an overview of Medicare beneficiaries’ sex and age in 2023. The dataset aggregates information by demographics, presence of chronic conditions, functional limitations and mental health status. The 2023 Diabetes Prevalence and Self-management Among Medicare Beneficiaries Living in the Community PUF provides an overview of Medicare beneficiaries’ diabetes prevalence, self-management and general diabetes knowledge in 2023. The dataset aggregates information by demographics, presence of chronic conditions, and health status. The 2023 Oral Health and Access to Dental Care Among Medicare Beneficiaries PUF provides an overview of Medicare beneficiaries’ oral health and access to dental care in 2023. The dataset aggregates information by demographics, presence of chronic conditions, health status, and dental coverage. The 2023 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) Survey File Microdata PUF provides a microdata set of Medicare beneficiaries’ health disparities, access to and satisfaction with health care, and medical conditions. Restructured BETOS Classification System (RBCS) Taxonomy – Annual Update The Restructured BETOS Classification System (RBCS) is a taxonomy that allows CMS and the research community to group healthcare service codes for Medicare Part B services into clinically meaningful categories and subcategories. This refresh includes Medicare Part B healthcare services provided between 2014 and 2024. Medicare Telehealth Trends Data - Quarterly UpdateThe Medicare Telehealth Trends Data highlights trends in the use of telehealth services between January 1, 2020, and June 30, 2025. The dataset allows for analysis of telehealth utilization by quarter, state, and various demographic characteristics. This release includes data for Q2 2025. Medicare Enrollment – Monthly UpdatesThe Medicare Monthly Enrollment Public Use File and Medicare Enrollment Dashboard present counts of Medicare beneficiaries with hospital/medical coverage and prescription drug coverage by geographic area and now include enrollee counts for September 2025. This update also includes new fields with enrollee counts by dual-eligibility category. |
