Over the next three weeks, we’ll be sharing a trio of coffees from Butembo, a washing station positioned in a valley on the shores of Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s great lakes.
This remarkable location benefits from nutrient-rich volcanic soil and cool breezes channelled through the valley, creating ideal conditions for coffee cultivation and gentle, efficient drying.
Our first featured lot has undergone washed processing, resulting in a delicate expression of this terroir. Expect tea-like qualities and soft notes of nectarine and almond.
