Dear supporter,
Happy 2026! This year, one of the things we are manifesting is a world where we can safely communicate with each other. While plotting how to make this possible, we realised that we don't know what you – our beloved supporter – think about this issue.
At EDRi we do not track your online behaviour, and we collect only the personal data you provided when you subscribed to this mailing list: an email address and a name/nickname.
We care about your opinion, and we would like to understand how you think about safe and secure communications.
In democratic societies, trusting our communication devices and systems like phones and messaging apps is crucial. Safe and secure communication makes it possible for us freely talk to our loved ones, vote, participate in social movements, speak up against injustice, and so much more.
Growing attacks on end-to-end encryption and spyware scandals show us the huge risks of unsafe communication. It limits our freedoms of expression and assembly, political expression, and makes us vulnerable to cyberattacks from malicious companies or other actors.
At a time of global crises and rising security risks, EDRi believes keeping our devices and communications safe and secure should be a top priority for our lawmakers.
What do you think? Why does being able to safely communicate matter to you - is it important for you to feel free, to participate in democracy, or something else?
