State officials and some education advocates are at odds over the legality of a new federal tax credit scholarship program that Gov. Mike Dunleavy said he signed Alaska on to earlier this week.
The groups opposed to the project said the federal government improperly analyzed the drilling program. The company, meanwhile, said the program was imperative to preserving its leases.
The agency that protects Alaska's state-owned oil and gas from waste confirmed that a small North Slope company deliberately burned off state-owned natural gas for almost four months because reinjecting it was inconvenient. (via Alaska Beacon)
