This morning, I stumbled across an amazing poem by a wonderful man named Michael F. Dubois. Reading it filled up some of the hollow space I’ve been carrying around inside of me these past weeks. I knew immediately that I wanted to share it with you all. I reached out to Michael to ask if that would be okay, and got this gracious reply: “Hi Joyce! I am so honored by your kind words. Sharing this poem has truly been an incredible experience. In these overwhelming, exhausting times, sharing this poem has gifted me a glimpse into the hope and resistance that is building. So many people have poured out their feelings to me after reading it, and I keep seeing the same thing over and over again — a growing community ready to stand up. I’d be honored for you to share it in your Substack.” With gratitude to Michael (he’s here on Instagram if you want to follow him), here is his poem.
