This position reports to and serves as full Deputy and alter ego to the COP General Counsel, acts for the General Counsel and is responsible for administration and interpretation of U.S. copyright law. The Deputy advises the General Counsel, the Register, and other members of the senior leadership in COP on a wide range of legal and policy questions on interpretation and operation of U.S. copyright law. Additional responsibilities include development and presentation of COP positions and proposals; preparation of written documents on various aspects of copyright law, such as memos, reports, regulations, and studies; representation of COP and the Library with DOJ, legal offices of other Federal agencies, and other stakeholders, including copyright owner organizations, users of copyright, and private law firms; and the promotion of legal positions governing the practices of COP. Collaborates with the Register and other COP leadership, including the Associate and Assistant Registers and their deputies.
