Yellow fever vaccine

Call for Experts: SAGE Working Group on Yellow Fever Vaccines

 

 

Dear colleagues and partners,

WHO is seeking experts to join the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) Working Group (WG) on Yellow Fever (YF) Vaccines, which will support upcoming global policy updates on YF vaccine use.

  • Submit nominations (CV + expertise + DOI form) to: sageexecsec@who.int
  • Deadline: 4 March 2026

What the Working Group Will Do

The SAGE WG will review evidence and provide draft recommendations to inform:

  • Use of fractional yellow fever vaccine doses (including immunogenicity, safety, outbreak impact, cost-effectiveness, and programmatic feasibility).
  • One vs two lifetime doses (including duration of protection, waning immunity, breakthrough infections, and comparative public health impact).

Outputs will feed into SAGE discussions in October 2026 and 2027, culminating in an updated WHO Yellow Fever Position Paper (2027).

Expertise Sought

WHO welcomes nominations from specialists in:

  • Public health (especially in LMIC settings)
  • Yellow fever epidemiology
  • Immunology, vaccinology
  • Immunization programme planning & campaign implementation
  • Mathematical modelling
  • Vaccine safety
  • Health economics

The WG will mainly meet virtually, with one possible in‑person meeting.
