January The Spark

Hi there —

So… how’s everyone’s chocolate coma going? Valentine’s Day always makes me laugh a little. One day we’re writing all the heartfelt notes… and the next day we’re back to forgetting to follow up with people we genuinely like.

And honestly? Business relationships can feel the same way. And I know it’s not because you don’t care about your clients… you do. I know you do. But because staying in touch today is, well, a lot (and I mean a lot!).

Between email threads, Slack pings, LinkedIn messages, and “let’s circle back” calls that never quite circle, there are a lot of relationships to juggle!

The good news: client retention isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about the small moments that build trust over time.

Think: the “saw this and thought of you” note (maybe even in your clients’ love languages), the quick check-in before a project goes quiet, and even the systems that help you show up consistently.

So let’s spark a few ideas about connection: with your work, with yourself, and with everything in between.

Today’s spark:

  • The difference between getting overlooked and getting chosen? It’s your positioning.

  • AI can do a lot… but it can’t replace this. Here’s why human connection might be the safest career move you can make.

  • If you’ve ever thought “I should really follow up with them”… this one’s for you or what I like to call “How to bring old conversations back to life 101.”

  • Okay I know you’ve probably heard about the “Let Them” theory already… but there’s a reason it’s everywhere! Add this one to your TBR.

  • If you’re feeling burned don’t eat the whole elephant… just take one bite. (But disclaimer: do not actually bite a real elephant!)

  • Apparently money isn’t enough anymore — employees want meaning too. (Yes, your mission statement is about to get tested.)

Hope something in here sparked an idea… or reminded you to send that follow-up you’ve been meaning to send.

'Til next time!

P.S. If you forgot to send some V-Day grams to your clients, it's not too late! One of these pre-made thank yous might help in a pinch.
