The Red Sox added a last-minute extra meeting to their agenda Wednesday morning to discuss problems faced by the MLB Players Association.
Reliever Garrett Whitlock, the team’s union representative, gathered the roster to fill everybody in on executive director Tony Clark’s Tuesday resignation and what the MLBPA might do to replace him — a critical decision as a labor fight looms.
“[The purpose of the meeting was] to make sure that 1, everybody was informed, and 2, see where the guys were at, see where we were at as a clubhouse,” Whitlock said. “My job is to relay to the PA what the voice is inside of the clubhouse.”
