From Nagano 1988 Roots caps to cowboy hats at Calgary 1988, our most memorable looks |

Berets and Bay stripes, sweeping capes and Western-style fringing: The only predictable thing about Canada’s Olympics uniforms over the decades has been their ability to stoke conversation, and typically—but not always—a flag-red colour palette.
This year’s Lululemon-designed Winter Olympics kit has met both criteria, courtesy of a raft of scarlet pieces and one divisive maple-festooned puffer-shrug worn by athletes at the opening ceremony. With the Games underway and the closing ceremony still to come, we’ve constructed a podium of our own, ranking the best, worst and most talked-about Canadian Olympics kits over the decades.
