A new document is accessible through the Fairfax County Continuum of Care Webpage that provides responses to questions received regarding the Continuum of Care (CoC) Grant Transfer opportunity currently open. This document accompanies others already accessible through the webpage, including the CoC Grant Transfer Application itself. This opportunity involves a competition for the selection of a community agency to administer a grant that supports a total of 16 individuals in permanent supportive housing, and its total contracted amount in the latest competition year was $431,018.
CoC Grant Transfer Applications are due via email to Stephen Knippler, CoC Manager, at stephen.knippler@fairfaxcounty.gov by 4:00 p.m. on March 13, 2026. Interested applicants should contact Stephen Knippler with any additional questions about the project.
Sending a heartfelt thank you to all of the service providers who participated in the annual Point-in Time (PIT) Count that took place on February 4, 2026. The Point-in-Time Count is an annual count of all people experiencing homelessness across the nation. The Point-in-Time Count helps the Fairfax County Continuum of Care to identify need and track progress toward the goal of ending homelessness.
Next steps for the 2026 Point-in Time Count will involve the Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) reviewing the data and submitting the results to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
It is anticipated that the 2026 PIT results will be released to the public in May 2026.
The FY 2027 Advertised Budget Plan for Fairfax County was presented by County Executive Bryan Hill to the Board of Supervisors on February 17, 2026. Balancing fiscal stability, long-term infrastructure needs and continued investment in county services is at the core of the FY 2027 Advertised Budget Plan. The proposal maintains the current $1.1225 Real Estate Tax rate, while incorporating targeted reductions and strategic investments in schools, employees, facilities and services for vulnerable residents.

Fairfax County’s proposed Five-Year Consolidated Plan for FY 2027-2031 and One-Year Action Plan for FY 2027 have been released for public comment. The Plans identify the County’s: Housing and community development goals; wide range of needs, current programs and strategies, and gaps and priorities for housing, community service, homeless, community development, neighborhood preservation and revitalization, employment and economic opportunity programs and services; and intended uses of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding.

Public comment began on February 4, 2026 and ends on March 17, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. Please refer to the public hearing notice for information on how to submit testimony or comments.

The Continuum of Care Board (CoC) was developed to provide leadership in preventing and ending homelessness in the Fairfax-Falls Church community. The CoC Board acts on behalf of the "Continuum of Care", which is a partnership of representatives from organizations in the Fairfax-Falls Church community with an interest and role in serving people experiencing, or at-risk of, homelessness. The Fairfax County Continuum of Care Strategic Planning Committee will meet on March 4, 2026, from 6:00pm-7:00 pm at the Fairfax County Government Cetner located at 1200 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA in Conference Room 8. The next Fairfax County Continuum of Care Board meeting will be held March 25, 2026, at the Fairfax County Government Center located at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA in Conference Room 8 starting at 7:00pm.
 The Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) is excited to announce that all available trainings are now on the Learning Management System (LMS). The OPEH training portal will still be available to see what is being offered, look up materials, presentations, and recordings from previous trainings, and the HOME page has instructions on how to activate your new LMS account and register for trainings in the LMS.
