Principal’s Message

fffff

Happy Friday Wolverine Community,

We are about halfway through 3rd quarter and it’s a great time to review grades in ParentVue/StudentVue.  In addition, we have a lot of information on our website for spring testing:  https://westpotomachs.fcps.edu/spring-testing   Please take time to explore our awesome website.

Last Friday, our AP African American Studies class had a special guest speaker.  Mr. Jay Quander – owner of 1799 Prime Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria and member of the Quander family member of Alexandria, came and spoke to the class.  He is also a graduate of FCPS. In addition, this week Mr. Houston hosted Coach Jimmy Lewis.

This week we started our new implementation of our Wolverine Reset Rooms for students who are late to class without valid passes and who are roaming the halls and bathrooms.  Thank you to those faculty and staff members that volunteered to help with the rooms.

Academy teacher, Chef Walden, and his students traveled down to Williamsburg for the Virginia ProStart Invitational competition.  West Potomac Senior, Katarina “Kat” Beatty competed in the cake decorating competition and she finished in first place.  Way to go Kat!!

On Thursday, West Potomac hosted its 15th Soul Food Luncheon-Culture, Community and Cuisine!  The teachers and students worked very hard to make this event happen.  In addition, we had a special visit from our Superintendent Dr. Reid and School Board Member, Kyle McDaniel.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Small Group SAT Classes – Final class starts 3/7 and preps for the 6/6 official SAT test. In-person, laptop required. Class filling up so register early!

Small Group eACT Classes – Until the West Po community shows more interest in the in-person eACT classes on campus, Applerouth has agreed to enroll students in their scheduled online with live tutor eACT classes, as available, and honor the West Po Group Class Price. Contact Test Prep Chair, Marilyn Aboff, marilynaboff@yahoo.com for class options.
