Roadrunner Roundup
Dear Roadrunner Families,
What a week it has been here at Little Run! While it was a shortened week due to the quick snow storm, we were so happy to see the students get back outside to play in the sunshine during recess—FINALLY!
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our PTA Meeting last night. Your partnership is invaluable in making our school a wonderful place for our children to grow. We are also incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who have already signed up for the book fair. Check out the Book Fair informaiton below for more details!
It was exciting to see some of our students get a "preview" of the book fair today, and others will have their chance to start next week. Please be sure to check below for more specific details regarding student shopping times.
Looking ahead to next week, we are so excited to welcome our families to Camp Read-a-Lot, our family literacy night, this coming Wednesday! It promises to be a wonderful evening centered around the joy of reading, and we hope to see you there!
It is hard to believe that March begins this weekend! We are hopeful that the new month brings even more warm weather and sunny days ahead.
As always, thank you for being such a wonderful part of the Little Run family!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal Alison Butler, Assistant Principal

FCPS was honored to have Annelise W. (6th grade) perform at the second annual Black History Month Celebration this week. Annelise sang A Change is Gonna Come (originally by Sam Cooke) for a packed audience, highlighting her beautiful talent along with Black History.
Some of our Roadrunners had a blast previewing the shelves today and spotting their next favorite reads. Everyone will have the opportunity to preview the book fair by next week. We are looking forward to an amazing week of browsing and building our home libraries!

New Visitor Management System
We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check in at the front office.
But now there is also an app, which can make check-ins even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check in at school.
If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation or any other introductory events each school may host. Read more about the registration process. For more information, contact our student information assistant, Nadia Ruffner, at nruffner@fcps.edu or 703-503-3500 with any questions.
