Spelling Bee

Dear Panther Families

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee contestants for their impressive participation in our annual Spelling Bee. Our 2026 Spelling Bee winner is Mayan Ramanujan and our three runners up are Nickan Sadr, Arjun Perumbali, and Linna liu.

We have reduced our chronic absenteeism rate by 2% since this time last year!  Please continue to use the FCPS calendar when planning days away from school.  There are a number of student holidays to use for trips in the upcoming months.

We have a new security management system in the front office. Download the Raptor Safe app on your phone. In the app, create your profile which includes scanning your driver's license. This will make checking in at the front office much quicker and easier.  Please see additional details below.  This is a system that is being installed across all FCPS schools.

If you have a neighbor with a rising Kindergarten student for the 2026-27 school year, please encourage them to register their child as soon as possible.  Having an accurate number of our rising Kindergarten students impacts our staffing for next school year!  Save the date for our kindergarten orientation scheduled for April 18th at 1:30pm.

We hope you enjoy this warmer weather and have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Womens History Month

Women's History Month is coming up!

To celebrate Women's History Month in March, Spring Hill will be hosting a school-wide project to honor the many accomplishments of women in various fields.  Each class will pick an influential woman of their choice and create a display to represent that woman.

We are looking for volunteers!

As the classes learn about different famous women, we want to also highlight the women in our community. SHES will be hosting grade-level assemblies highlighting the amazing moms, grandmothers, aunts, friends and all other women we know!

If you would like to present in person about your job, please sign up HERE.

If you would like to send in information to be displayed about your self, please email a photo and a brief paragraph about yourself to Mrs. Konstantin at ejkonstantin@fcps.edu by March 6th.

Come see the displays throughout the school during our SHES Fun Fair on March 14th.

Steam & Science Updates

Our ‘Once Upon a Science Fair/STEAM/Literacy Night’ is quickly approaching!  We need your help in making it a standout event.  Students schoolwide are highly encouraged to participate in the Science Fair.  This is a great time to work together on as simple or complex problem as you want to do.  All students who wish to participate need to sign up using the Science Fair link no later than February 28, 2026 to ensure they are reserved a space on March 18th.  Projects will come to school between 8:30 – 8:50 March 18th and taken home on March 19th after school. Students who wish to donate their plastic free Science Fair boards to the upcoming garden build will be given a tag that will let us know to keep the board to use as weed barriers in the new garden.

The Science Fair, STEAM, and Literacy event will be held March 18th from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  We would love to have your family join in the fun!   This is a free event open to all!  Because it is a FREE event, we do need some help getting the supplies needed to put everything together.  If you are interested in donating to STEAM/Literacy night please use this STEAM Sign-Up Genius and/or Literacy Sign-Up Genius to see what materials we need.

If you and your family are planning to attend, please let us know when you plan to attend with this Family Sign-Up Genius.  Time slots are 4:00 -5:30 and 5:30 – 7:00pm.

Last, we need many volunteers to help keep everything running smoothly.  If you have an older student who would like to volunteer at our event for volunteer hours, we are happy to sign off on them…  OR… if you and your family would like to spend part of the evening helping, that would be great too!   Volunteer Sign up Genius

Celebrating the Power of School Breakfast

Multiple studies show that school breakfasts are important in supporting overall student health by improving students’ diets and combating food insecurity. Students who eat school breakfast consume more fruit and fiber than their peers.

This National School Breakfast Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. New menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.

Would you like to know what’s for breakfast? Nutrition Services has printable menus available.
