More than 10,000 Haitians now call Springfield, Ohio, a city of 58,000 between Dayton and Columbus, home. While some are U.S. citizens, most have Temporary Protected Status. In the months ahead of a federal court ruling about the fate of the program, many Americans had mobilized to help the growing Haitian community there. Some Americans did something more risky.
