Biofilms may be present in about two-thirds of SIBO cases.
These protective layers allow bacteria to shield themselves from treatment and explain why SIBO often persists.
Clinicians have long suspected biofilms play a role in persistent SIBO. But when we looked to the scientific literature, we found no studies testing how to treat them.
So our clinical research group decided to fill this gap.
We just published a study documenting, for the first time, an effective treatment protocol for SIBO biofilms.
Here’s what we found: Patients who added the biofilm disruptor experienced statistically significant reductions in both hydrogen and methane levels compared to those who didn’t.
In today’s episode, I explain:
The clues you have a biofilm
Why biofilms keep your symptoms coming back
The new protocol we used in the study
I hope our research and today’s video help move the needle for stubborn SIBO.
