Israel has assassinated Ali Larijani, one of the Iranian regime’s top figures. In doing so, it has taken out a man who some people thought might be able to negotiate an end to the war. The
regime is weakened.
But now it may be seized by men even more hard-line than Mr Larijani, and willing to fight on come what may.
And Britons now support rejoining the EU by 52% to 29%. That may be why Rachel Reeves, Britain’s chancellor, has “fired the starting gun” for
closer realignment with Europe.
