March 20th, Eid al-Fitr and Nowruz - Holiday
 All FCPS schools and offices are closed on Friday, March 20, in observance of Eid al-Fitr, the three-day festival that marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting. This year, Nowruz, the Persian New Year that celebrates the arrival of spring and the start of the new year, also falls on March 20. See the complete school year calendar.

April 21 Statewide Election: No School for Students
 There will be no school for students on Tuesday, April 21, for the Virginia statewide election. Student activities, athletic practices, and events may proceed as scheduled.
Fairfax County Public Schools will still exceed the required number of instructional hours for students, as set by the Virginia Department of Education.
Budget - County Seeking Budget Input
 About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. They are currently reviewing the county’s 2027 Fiscal Year Advertised Budget and are considering possible adjustments before the final county budget is adopted in May.
Provide the county with feedback on how you would like your tax dollars spent by completing this survey.

Spring Adapted Soccer
 Registration for spring TOPSoccer is now open.
TOPSoccer- Spring 2026 Sundays, April 12- June 7 (8 weeks, no practice May 24) Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm Ages: 5-18 years old Location: Sprague Center, 4414 Holborn Ave, Annandale
TOPSoccer is developed through US Youth Soccer for young athletes with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities, allowing the opportunity to learn and play soccer in a safe, nurturing, and self-empowering environment. The program’s goal is to enable young athletes to grow and develop physically, socially, and emotionally as members of US Youth Soccer with the assistance of volunteer coaches and youth mentoring buddies.
This program is in partnership with the Annandale Boys & Girls Club.

ABA Family Training: Strategies for Toilet Training
 This session is intended for parents who are interested in beginning or continuing
their child’s toilet training journey. Topics covered will include:
- Toilet training readiness and prerequisite skills
- Methods of toilet training
- Troubleshooting night-time and diaper dependence concerns

April Sibshops and SibTeens
 Date: Friday, April 10, 2026 Location: Gum Springs Community Center 8100 Fordson Rd, Alexandria, VA
The Sibshops workshops are for children in grades 2-6 enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools who have siblings with support needs to meet other siblings in a relaxed setting. Celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of children with special needs, share sibling experiences, and receive peer support. Play games and have fun.

SibTeens is a community-building group for Middle School siblings of children with support needs in grades 6-9 enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools. We have fun activities, both recreational and art-based, as well as discussion activities. It’s a unique opportunity for students to share about their lives and support each other while normalizing their life experiences.

Social Security Success
Applying for Social Security benefits can feel confusing and overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate the process alone. Experienced attorneys Claire Kelly and Elizabeth Gray will offer free, personalized guidance in small-group sessions to help you complete your Social Security application with confidence. Each session is designed to provide individualized support and last up to 50 minutes. Space is limited, and registration is required. Forms will be provided to registered attendees in advance; please bring the completed forms with you to review during your session. The sessions will be held at the Arc of Northern Virginia Offices.
