Principal's Message

Hello Bruin Community!

The newsletter is coming a day early this week due to Friday's holiday. We wish Eid mubarak to those who celebrate.

Next week is our annual International Show and we hope you can join us. The students have put in many hours preparing and are excited to share their culture.

Finally, next week is the last week before Spring Break. Friday, March 27 will be a 2-hour early release day due to the end of the 3rd quarter. And after Spring Break, there will be no school for students on Monday, April 6 (Teacher Workday) and Friday, April 10 (School Planning Day).

Getting Involved

Have you ever wondered how your child can get involved more throughout the community? Getting involved in the Student Government, Student Council, or Class Office is a great opportunity to do so. Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid

As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Her Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on:

Looking ahead to April, we originally had scheduled the Spring Pep Rally for April 17. We have had to change that date to Thursday, April 23. Please note that 2nd and 8th periods will be flipped that day.

Testing Information



Spring Testing

The Spring Testing is quickly approaching. All-important testing information and the testing calendar can be found on the Lake Braddock Testing Website. Please note important dates your student may be testing and make every attempt to avoid testing interruptions.

High School students do not take every SOL therefore emails will be sent to students providing non testing students with their study hall locations for April 29, May 1 and May 7.  Please be on the lookout for those emails.

If you have specific questions about testing, please reach out to your student’s counselor or subject specific teacher.


AP Testing Information

If your student is taking at least one AP course this school year, please make sure you are checking for important AP information found in two places:

- In Schoology: Make sure your student joins the LBSS AP Student 2025-2026 Group in Schoology by using this Access Code:

Graduation Status Now Available in ParentVUE & StudentVUE

A new Graduation Status section is now available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. The Graduation Status is a tool that helps parents and students monitor and track their progress in meeting graduation requirements. This feature includes progress towards the Standard or Advanced Studies diploma for high school students and middle school students who have enrolled in one or more high school courses. This new graduation status section is available in addition to the course history and unofficial transcript options in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. To view the graduation status section, please take the following steps:

  1. Login to your SIS ParentVUE Account
  2. Go to “Course History” for your middle or high school student
  3. Go to “Graduation Status” and toggle “on”

Prepare for Summer Learning and Fun for Students

Registration is open or will be available soon for summer camps and learning opportunities offered by Fairfax County Public Schools for all students.

Career and Technical Education and Institute for the Arts Camps

Career and Technical Education camps and Institute for the Arts camps will be held in July at Robinson Secondary School from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bus transportation will be available from select FCPS middle and high schools. Tuition assistance is available to FCPS families eligible for free or reduced meals.

CTE Summer Academy (CSA) is a week-long enrichment program that allows students in grades 6-11 to dive deeper into CTE program areas, develop skills, and begin career exploration. Watch this video about CTE camps. Registration is open for these programs through Friday, June 5.

Institute for the Arts (IFTA) is a two-week camp for students currently in grades 6-11. Students select from nearly 60 classes in art, dance, music, and theater. Rising freshmen have the option to take Health and PE 9 through IFTA as well!

Production Camp is a four-week summer theatre intensive for students in grades 6-11. Students in performance or technical theatre tracks rehearse, design, and build a musical in a collaborative atmosphere. The show is presented to the public at the end of camp.

New this year: Students in the above camps can also register for aftercare, which is available from 2 to 5 p.m.

Self-Directed Economics and Personal Finance

Summer is a great time for high school students to fulfill the Economics and Personal Finance course requirement. During the self-directed course, students work independently to complete the requirements. Registration is now open. Students must register by Friday, June 5. For more information, see the
