Short week with storms wreaking havoc with our schedule on Monday and no school tomorrow, but we still got a lot done! One final week before Spring Break, so I know our students are getting excited!
This week's update is brief, but it does contain winners of some big contests, including this year's Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair results. Every single project that entered won an award of some type this year!
Remember next week is the final week of the third quarter. As a result, we will have a two-hour early release on Friday, March 27 to allow teachers to finalize their gradebooks.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mike Roth
TJHSST Director of Communications
During the week-long Spring Break, March 30-April 3, TJ is open by appointment only. Please contact the party you wish to meet with and arrange the meeting before showing up at the school as staffing will be limited. If you do need to schedule a meeting, please set it up between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Please Note: I'm rerunning this message to make sure you do not miss it. Please adjust your calendars for this change.
TJ's Anchor/Blue/Red Day Calendar
Families received notice from FCPS last week that schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 21 in order to serve as polling locations in that day's special statewide election.
As a result, TJ will be changing Monday, April 20 to a Blue Day. An updated Anchor/Blue/Red Day calendar is linked above.
Spring is nearly here, and that means that yearbooks will only be sold for a few more weeks!
Please visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and use school code 13621 before Saturday, April 25 when sales close!
Last year, we sold out of the yearbook before distribution day and had a long waitlist. To avoid disappointment in May or June, I urge you to pre-order your 2026 yearbook NOW!
With the purchase of theTechniques yearbook, you get the Threshold literary magazine, the Teknos science magazine, and a year of tjTODAY (distributed at school throughout the year and online) for free.
Don't delay, but please email me if you have any questions.

TJ had an amazing performance at the Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair this past weekend with all 25 projects entered winning some sort of recognition (several receiving multiple)!
For ease of viewing visit this webpage to see all of our category winners. Under a new format this year, the Grand Prize Winners get an automatic berth in the International Science and Engineering Fair (however they still get to compete in the Virginia Science and Engineering Fair as well). Those projects labeled Grand Prize Alternate or Grand Prize Nominee get to compete in the VSEF with the opportunity to win a spot in the ISEF.
In addition, several corporations and local organizations had their own awards. Our TJ kids did very well there too! On this website you will find each project that earned a special award (some earning multiple) along with the prize that they won!
The TJHSST Technology Student Association did an outstanding job at this year's Northern Region Tournament. This annual event is currently held at Parkview High School and covers all of Northern Virginia. We had more students qualify for State Events than ever before. This year's state "Technosphere" will be held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. National's will be at the Gaylord, National Harbor in June.
