Learn about Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments, March 26
The city is in the third phase of the project to update the zoning ordinance for development in activity centers. Community members, industry professionals, and other stakeholders have been participating in every phase and have provided feedback that has helped shape the draft amendments that are now available.
Stop by the Sherwood Center, 3740 Blenheim Boulevard, anytime between 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, for an open house where you can dive deeper into the proposed amendments, discuss with staff, and share your ideas.
Visit Engage Fairfax to view the draft ahead of time or follow up after the open house. Tap the image above to watch a short interview with city planner Amy Lynne Denny.

Check Your Toilet for Leaks and Save Water
Did you know that leaky toilets are the most common source of household water loss? A quick, simple test can help you find out if your toilet is silently wasting water.
Just add a dye tablet or a few drops of red or blue food dye. Here’s how to check:
- Flush your toilet.
- Wait five minutes, then remove the tank lid.
- Place one dye tablet or five drops of food dye into the tank. Wait 15 minutes.
- If the dye appears in the bowl, you have a leak.
To learn more about common causes of toilet leaks and how to detect other types of leaks in your home, visit Fairfax Water.
