Hey Bob, Here's something that took me a long time to figure out. You don't have to love a language to learn it. Millions of immigrants around the world learn languages every year... Not out of passion, not out of curiosity. Out of necessity. They don't sit around wondering if they're motivated enough. They just get on with it. Which brings me to Jamie. Jamie's been living in Germany for three years. Good life, good job, a partner. He's worked his way up to B1 in German. And he kind of hates it. Doesn't like the sound of it. Dreads opening a textbook. But he also doesn't want to rely on his partner to book his own dentist appointments. So he asked me: what do you do when you need a language but can't stand it? In this week's podcast, I get into that. There's a shift in thinking that I honestly believe changes everything at this stage... And one suggestion I make that Jamie will probably think sounds insane. (It might be exactly what he needs.) Watch the episode here Chat soon, Olly |
