Opening Day is often followed by a scheduled day off in case there’s a rainout. Reds manager Terry Francona finds it annoying.
“The biggest overreaction day of the year,” he said. “If you win, you’re going to the World Series. If you lose, you stink.”
It was the other way around for the Red Sox. They beat the Reds in Game 1 and looked good doing so. They haven’t stunk in the two games since, that’s too harsh. But they took a pair of painful one-run losses because of a lack of clutch hitting. That part stinks.
It’s three games. Nothing to get alarmed about.
