Month of the Military Child
April is the Month of the Military Child! Every year we take the opportunity to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community, and recognize their strength and resilience. Spring Picture Day - Tomorrow, April 9
It’s almost time for Picture Day, and we want to make sure everyone is ready to capture those smiles. The Barksdale Group is making it easy to go paperless! You can build your own custom package or select a pre-set one online. Payment is due on or before Picture Day to ensure your child’s portraits are processed.

Chantilly Pyramid Art Show - Thursday, April 9
We are thrilled to invite our students, families, and community members to an evening dedicated to the incredible artistic talent within our schools! Join us for the 2026 Chantilly Pyramid Art Show on April 9, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Chantilly High School. We hope to see you there!
Kindergarten Orientation - Friday, April 10
Kindergarten enrollment is open now through April 30! To enroll your child, please visit the school office between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. You can also start the process by filling out the intake form online.
We will have a Kindergarten Open House on Friday, April 10, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. This is a great chance for families of students entering school in August to learn more about kindergarten at our school.
You can pick up enrollment forms in the front office. If you need help, our Registrar, Ms. Nunez, is happy to assist you. You can also email her at anunez@fcps.edu.
Early Release Wednesday Update for April
Tuesday, April 21, is now a teacher workday and staff development day because of a recently announced special election that will impact all FCPS schools.
Students will now have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on April 29, which was previously an early release Wednesday for our school.
This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days.Read Dr. Reid’s letter to elementary parents for more details.
Purple Up! Day - Wednesday, April 15
“Purple Up! For Military Kids” is a day in April set aside for everyone around the Nation to show their support for military-connected students. To show our support, we are asking our students to wear purple on Wednesday, April 15, for Purple Up Day.
