Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Big To-Do: Short Cuts, our midweek round-up of what’s going on around Boston, as selected by Boston Globe critics and writers.

Thursday

  • Boston singer-songwriter Jessye DeSilva brings her queer joy anthems to the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge.

  • “Big Mistakes,” the new comedy co-created by “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy and “I Love LA” actress Rachel Sennott, premieres on Netflix.

  • Pittsfield native Elizabeth Banks gets the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” treatment in “The Miniature Wife,” a new series for Peacock.

  • Meanwhile on HBO Max, Jean Smart is back as Deborah Vance for the final season of “Hacks,” also debuting Thursday.

Friday

  • Life is still unfair for Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston, who are back for Hulu’s reboot of the “Malcolm in the Middle” sitcom.

  • “The Wage Standard” author Arindrajit Dube takes part in a conversation with David Autor at the Harvard Book Store.

Saturday

  • Artists including Rose Mooney, Zach Hunhoff, Chloe Key, and more perform at Time Out Market for a benefit show in support of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

  • English pop singer Lily Allen, who released her latest LP “West End Girl” last year, takes over the Orpheum Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday

  • Alt-rockers Bush are in town for a show at MGM Music Hall at Fenway Sunday night.

  • Billy Magnussen, Zach Galifianakis, and Rob Corddry star in the Silicon Valley drama “The Audacity,” premiering on AMC.

  • “Euphoria” returns Sunday night with a steamy new season featuring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and more big names.




Ongoing

  • The exhibition “Framing Nature: Gardens and the Imagination” is on display at the MFA through June 28.

Last chance

  • Presented by Broadway In Boston, “The Outsiders” concludes its run at Citizens Opera House on Sunday.
